Volunteer Work
Volunteer work has always been an essential part of Alice’s life. In past years she volunteered with seniors in southeast Missouri, with local food banks, with public libraries, with the Boone County Humane Society, and with retired veterans. More recently, she spent hours each week helping register Americans to vote, provided Information Technology support at a local non-profit organization, and fundraised for a center for abandoned children. She’s also the Secretary/Treasurer of the Homeowners Association for her neighborhood, and created their website and accounting database.
Alice adores all animals. She has two cats of her own and has been a donor and volunteer at organizations like the Columbia Humane Society. She feeds birds, opossums, raccoons, rabbits and deer in her back yard every day. She is an animal rights advocate and would be the first to rescue a furry friend in need.

Traveler
Alice was a frequent traveler before she became disabled. Today, her mobility is limited by her wheelchair, and pain keeps her from driving distances or traveling by air. In this picture, she is traveling with her niece in Cairo in November 2000.
Musician
Alice is a talented musician and played the piano, guitar and violin for many years, following in the steps of her father who was a Master violin maker and fiddler. Unfortunately, rheumatoid arthritis has stopped her from pursuing these passions today.
Reader
Alice has been a Great Reader all her life, and always has her nose stuck in a book. One of the saddest days of her life was when she lost all her books in Hurricane Katrina.
Seamstress
Alice is a talented seamstress, and in her spare time she designs and makes historical and fantasy costumes for herself and others who enjoy attending Renaissance Festivals. On the left Alice is wearing a 15th century gown she made based on designs she copied from historical paintings. On the right is a gypsy costume she made for a friend.
