About Alice

Alice Weiss is being wrongly accused for the murder of the man she loved.

Alice Weiss is a 69-year-old woman confined to a wheelchair who has was been charged with a 22-year old crime of which she is innocent. This disabled senior was arrested and held in jail for one week without access to her medications, and was denied the medically-restricted diet that she must follow in order to stay alive. For 30 years she was the caregiver for her elderly parents. Even in retirement, and from her wheelchair, Alice has dedicated her life to others and especially to the elderly, spending hours a week as a volunteer for civic, educational, and human rights institutions. She is also an animal rights advocate.

A Life of Community Service

Alice is a model citizen who has dedicated her life to helping others. For decades she was the caregiver for her elderly parents who suffered from a disabling stroke and dementia. She volunteered for her homeowners association for many years, and strove to make her neighborhood a better place. She helped raise funds for a friend, a veteran, after he was permanently disabled in a motorcycle accident and lost his job, his health insurance and his home. During the recent election, she volunteered to help register new voters. She also volunteered at a local political office in her home county, and raised funds for a new computer there in 2020. Alice’s income is limited to a Social Security check, yet she donated her $600 ‘Covid check’ to the local food pantry, to feed others in greater need. Alice was a victim of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and lost almost everything, including her house, and yet to this day she does nothing but put her own needs aside to try and help others.

Alice and Jim

Alice met her partner Jim Summers when they were both part of the team running the computer network for the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She immediately connected with this colleague, and eventually they moved into a house together along with her cat, Munchie, the vintage 1965 Mustang which Jim was restoring, and Alice’s father, who suffered from advancing dementia. Alice described Jim as someone she loved and respected, someone she deeply connected with, and someone she viewed as a life partner.

Shockingly, on April 27, 2004, Jim was shot outside their home as he was leaving to pick up his daughter from gymnastics class. Alice was showering at the time, heard several shots, and when she went outside to investigate she found Jim lying on the ground covered in blood. She immediately called 911.

Alice is innocent, the victim of a terrible legal error.
